fuckyeavicky asked: hi! i'm really glad to have found this. i had the same idea but for a zine a couple years back but never made it a reality! i wanna know where the best 'raspa naturales' are

We’re glad you found us! :) If you’d like to submit any reviews, we’d love to post them!

As far as naturales, we haven’t come across too many places who have ‘em. Raspas de la Jardin on Bicentennial in McAllen, TX has great homemade naturales, but the ice was a bit hard when we reviewed it. Young’s Sno Wiz on 23rd in McAllen had fruit flavors too and has smooth and silky ice. ^_^  Though, I don’t know if they were made naturally. I’m not sure.

But they were damn good so who cares. AMIRITEPPL??

TROPICAL ISLAND

You guys should try the raspas at Tropical Island on IRD in pharr between sioux and 495 there so good I love the chamo raspa of mango with real fruit in the bottom and the piña colada also the strawberry with vanilla ice cream I go every day :D

submission to Raspa Libre from Rosy

I completely agree. The watermelon chamoraspa is my favorite. I also blame this place for the decline in reviews. I only wanted to go to Tropical Island every time a new review was due.

Anonymous asked: Just discovered your blog! Very unique. I've got two questions that maybe you can answer.

What's the difference between a raspa versus a snow cone? I thought they were interchangeable, but I see people saying stuff like, "Raspas are so much better than snow cones." I thought snow cone was just the English word. Thoughts? And secondly, I live in San Antonio; do you know where I can get a pickadilly?

Thank you! I’m going to answer as simply as possible.

1. Snow cone ice feels like crushed ice that got crushed a little more pre-syrup. Raspas, to me, have finer shaved ice. I’ve also noticed that a lot of ‘snow cones’ taste like they have watered down syrup. grossies.

2. I don’t visit San Antonio much at all, so I wouldn’t know where to send you.

Anonymous asked: Do you have a recipe for the pink raspa de leche?

We’ve been asked for recipes before, but we don’t have recipes because we don’t make raspas.

We just eat ‘em.

whoops.

I reblogged the previous post accidentally. I thought I’d reblogged it to my personal TumTum.

Anyway, last summer I had wayyy too many raspas, you know, for the sake of this blog. Now when I feel like starting it up again, I just feel like the same thing will happen and I don’t ever want to get sick of raspas… or get diabetes.

So if any of you would like to contribute to this raspa review by way of video, text post, photo, or brief raspa storytelling, let me know!

I’d love to hear from you all too. :)

I haven’t made a video like this in a long time, so I was really excited when my boss gave me the OK to do a tour diary of my friends who are in this amazing band. I asked them to record their adventures of being on tour for the first time and then met them in Austin and San Marcos to film two performances at the end of their tour. I got to interview them and ask them questions about music and education.

These are my favorite kind of videos to make. Two of my favorite things are music and editing so I love when I get opportunities like this. And if there is any way to help spread the word about friends doing great things, I’m going to do it.

Watch, reblog, like, share this video about The Young Maths. You’ll love their music and hopefully love my video ;)

I heard these guys missed raspas the most while on tour. totez understandable.

Anonymous asked: where can i buy a raspa stand

Anonymous asked: Hello...is the Sno Wiz in east Pharr on Business 83 still there? I remember it as a white building on the south side of the road right before you got to San Juan.

Not sure! Once we get back to reviewing in the spring, we’ll look for it!

mikeedesign asked: Awesome site! Have you done any reviews in Harlingen?

No, we haven’t. We’ll start reviewing again once the weather is appropriate and devise a workout plan to cancel out all the raspas. haha
